Research & Development
The development of a fully automated translation solution between text and sign language is a highly complex process. The work carried out by our diverse project team has demonstrated that many technically innovative partial solutions have already been achieved. There is no single major AI breakthrough resulting in a fully automated, real-time translation system - instead, progress is being made through numerous interlinked innovations. Our development efforts and the implementation of this translation solution open up a wide range of future opportunities.
Individual results, knowledge, and data are intended to be made available to the deaf community - including associations, researchers, and educators - so that sign language and deaf culture can benefit from our digital solution.
We are continuously advancing our research and development in this area. Together with our sister company - Charamel GmbH - and other partners, we are building on the outcomes of the following projects:

BIGEKO - Bidirectional Sign Language Communication (duration: 03/2023 - 02/2026) - Consortium leader: Charamel GmbH - https://www.interaktive-technologien.de/projekte/bigeko
AVASAG - Avatar-based language assistant for automated sign language translation (duration: 05/2020 - 04/2023) - Consortium leader: Charamel GmbH - https://www.interaktive-technologien.de/projekte/avasag
