First Accessible Payment Terminal with Sign Language Avatar Implemented
In collaboration with GERD THOM GmbH, the accessible payment terminal Paymio has been developed, setting new standards for inclusive payment systems. alangu contributed its sign language avatar, which is directly integrated into the terminal to enable a more accessible user experience.
The avatar translates relevant content into German Sign Language (DGS) and supports deaf users throughout the payment process. This significantly improves interaction with digital payment systems.
Accessibility is a key component of modern digital solutions. By integrating the sign language avatar into Paymio, alangu is making a concrete contribution to greater inclusion in everyday life and equal access to digital services.
Challenge: Limited Accessibility of Existing Terminals
Many conventional payment terminals are only partially accessible for people with disabilities. For deaf users in particular, purely visual or text-based interfaces are often insufficient to fully understand the information provided.
Solution: Seamless Integration for Greater Inclusion
As part of the project, the sign language avatar was seamlessly integrated into Paymio. It translates key content in real time and intuitively guides users through the payment process.
The result is a practical solution that reduces barriers and sustainably improves digital inclusion in payment transactions.
